Question

How do I enable Remote Desktop?

Answer

Remote Desktop will only work when connecting to a Windows XP Professional computer or a Windows 2000 Server or Windows 2003 Server computer that has Terminal Services installed.

In order to enable Remote Desktop to connect to a Windows XP Professional machine, you must to enable Remote Access to that computer. In order to do this, follow these steps:

  • Right-click on My Computer and choose Properties
*Note: If you do not have the My Computer icon on your desktop, you can find it should be on the right side of the Start menu. Click on the Remote tab
  • Place a check in the "Allow users to connect remotely to this computer."
  • Click on the Select Remote Users button and add your Windows logon alias to the window there.
  • Click Ok till you get back to the desktop
