When I start FileSync it attempts to connect over my serial cable connection. Sometimes I see this error message: FileSync could not connect to the site. If you are sure the site is available, verify the site's port number and try connecting again. More details: Connection refused. What causes this error?

Cause

FileSync is set by default to automatically connect between two computers that have a cable attached. Occasionally, when both machines are trying to connect at the same time, one will refuse the connection because it is busy making it's own connection.

Solution

To resolve this problem disable the automatic connection on one of the computers. Here are the steps.

  1. From FileSync's Options menu, click Port Status.

  2. Uncheck Automatically connect at start up.
