When you click on the PC Desktop link and then the link to start the VNC Viewer, you recieve the following error message:
Cause
Local loop-back is disabled on the host computer.
Solution
In order to resolve this problem, perform the following steps on the Host computer (the one you are trying to connect to):
- From the Window Start menu, click Run, type REGEDIT and click OK.
- Note: Before making the following changes, make a backup of your registry. See Technical Document 111: How do I Backup and Restore the Windows Registry for more information. Alternatively for Windows XP users, see Technical Document 670: How to Create a Windows XP Restore Point.
- In the left pane, click on the plus sign (+) beside HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.
- Click on the plus sign (+) beside Software.
- Click on the plus sign (+) beside ORL.
- Click on WinVNC3.
- In the right hand window, right-click on AllowLoopback and choose Modify.
- Type the number 1 into the Value data field and click Ok.
- Close the Registry Editor, launch Laplink Everywhere, and test the remote control connection.
