I have been directed to use Device Manager as part of solving a problem using LapLink or PCsync. How do I find Device Manager?
Cause
Solution
Select the appropriate version of Windows:
Windows 95, 98 or Millennium
Windows 2000 and XP
WIndows Vista
Note: Windows NT does not have a Device Manager.
For computers running Windows 95, 98 or Millennium
- Right-click
My Computer, and click
Properties.

- Click the
Device Manager tab.
- Click
View Devices by type.
- To see a list of devices in any category, click the
+ sign to expand.

For computers running Windows 2000 and XP
- Right-click
My Computer, and click
Manage.
NOTE: You may need to click on Start and find the My Computer icon on the right
side of the Start Menu.

- Click
Device Manager in the left pane.
- To see a list of devices in any category, click the
plus sign (+) to expand that category.

Note: If you don't see the My Computer icon and you are running Win XP, Please do
the following:
- Go to Start > Control Panel
- Click the link on the left for 'Classic View'
- Open the System Icon
- On the Hardware Tab, click the Device Manager button
For computers running Windows Vista
- Click on Start button to display the Windows Start Menu.
- Right-click
Computer on the right side of the Windows Start Menu, and click
Manage.

- If prompted, click
Continue on the
User Account Control window.

- Click
Device Manager in the left pane.
- To see a list of devices in any category, click the
plus sign (+) to expand that category.
