Laplink Gold 11.5 - FAQ's
QUESTION
How does the Firewall Support service work?
ANSWER
Firewalls have become commonplace items in the workplace and home today. Firewalls provide protection against intruders breaking into business and personal computers by several means. Included in their defense strategies is to block all incoming connections, restrict the ports and protocols of network traffic, and to scan the structure and nature of the information being passed between computers to look for suspicious activities.
In prior versions of LapLink there were two options for connecting computers where one computer was behind a firewall and the other was not behind a firewall. Either the computer that is behind a firewall must be the one to initiate the connection, or the firewall must be configured to allow an incoming connection in the LapLink port. LapLink Gold’s new Firewall Connection Service makes it possible for a computer behind the firewall to securely connect to a computer on the outside of the firewall.
