Sharedirect - FAQ's

QUESTION

Why does ShareDirect take up so much memory and how will this affect my system’s performance?

ANSWER

ShareDirect runs on Microsoft’s .NET Framework. To enhance performance, the .NET Framework memory management model allocates more memory to .NET applications than is actually being used. However, if another application requires this “extra” memory, .NET will immediately allow that memory to be redistributed to other applications.

ShareDirect uses no more than 15MB of memory when it is in “background mode”, which means that the ShareDirect application is running, but you are not using it to actively download files.
