Sharedirect - FAQ's
QUESTION
My computer is directly connected to the Internet. Why do some of my connections to other ShareDirect members appear as “Premium”?
ANSWER
If your computer does not reside behind a router, all your connections should be Direct. The problem may be related to personal firewall software you have running on your computer. Some of the more well known of these commercially available Firewall applications are McAfee, Norton and Zone Alarm.
Personal firewalls work by only allowing trusted applications to connect to the Internet. If one of these firewalls has blocked ShareDirect from receiving incoming data, then it will appear to the ShareDirect servers as if you are behind a router. To counter this, open up your firewall’s administrative console and go to the “Programs” or “Exceptions” section. Find the list of all blocked programs. Highlight ShareDirect and ensure it has unfiltered access to the Internet.
