Outlook 2000 can't be added as a client

SUMMARY

When I try to set up TrueSync with my installation of Outlook 2000 I don't see a choice for Outlook during setup. If I go to Clients - Add - Applications, Outlook is not listed. Why?

 

SOLUTION

Go to Start | Settings | Control Panels and double- click "Add/Remove Programs". When the Add/Remove Programs application appears, scroll down and select "TrueSync Products". Click the "Add/Remove..." button. __When the "Uninstall TrueSync Products" window appears, select "Outlook 98 Synchronization" and "Outlook 2000 Synchronization". Click the "Finish" button, and TrueSync will uninstall the Outlook accessors.__Then run Product Updates again from Start | Programs | TrueSync Plus. Choose "Outlook 2000 Synchronization". Starfish Installer will install the correct accessor and update the registry. Outlook 2000 should now be listed as an available client in TrueSync.__If that doesn't work, then do the following:__Go to the Start Menu, choose "Run...". Type in REGEDIT and press "OK". This starts the Registry Editor._*WARNING* Be extremely careful when viewing your registry to not delete or change anything. Deleting or changing anything could result in serious problems running Windows or other applications. We recommend backing up your registry making a backup copy of user.dat and system.dat. These are hidden files and can be found in the Windows folder._Consult your Windows documentation and your network administrator for additional help backing up your registry files.__Check to see if you have this key:_HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Starfish\TrueSync\Sources\Outlook 2000 __If you don't see the key, do the following:_Uninstall TrueSync Plus using Windows' "Add/Remove Programs" Control Panel._Delete the C:/Program Files/Starfish folder._Delete C:/Windows/TrueSync Setup._Delete C:/Windows/Temp/TrueSync Temp._Run the Registry editor. Delete the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Starfish key._Restart Windows and then reinstall TrueSync Plus.__TrueSync Plus should now recognize Outlook 2000 as a client.__If you still can't get TrueSync to see Outlook, you may need to reinstall Outlook. Here is how:_Go to Start | Settings | Control Panels and double click on Add/Remove Programs"._When the "Add/Remove Programs" control panel appears, scroll down and select Office 2000 from the list. Now click the "Add/Remove..." button. This starts the Office Maintainance program._When the Office Maintainance program appears, click "Next", then click "Repair Office"._Then choose "Reinstall Office" and click "Finish". Windows will reinstall Office (and Outlook).__Now reinstall TrueSync and you should be able to set up Outlook.
