Premium Connections

To ensure that you can share your folders and files, ShareDirect utilizes Premium connections that allow you to connect through nearly all firewalls and routers with no user configuration. Premium connections must be used in order for data to safely traverse firewalls and other network configurations that protect your PC.

Whenever ShareDirect establishes a Premium connection with other ShareDirect members, your encrypted data passes through Laplink’s relay servers. Your security and privacy are never compromised and you do not need to open any special port or change existing Internet configurations.

ShareDirect editions are subscription-based plans that determine the amount of data you can transfer per month using Premium connections (your "Premium usage"). If you are able to establish a direct connection with ShareDirect (if your PC or the PC you are sharing files with is not firewall-protected), the amount of data you can download is unlimited and these downloads will not count towards your monthly Premium usage.
